Six Things You Can Do To Increase Your Adsense Earnings

Google Adsense is one of the easiest ways to earn money from your blog. Though, we often hear bloggers complaining about low Adsense earnings and how they always keep on looking for alternatives. Well, this is true to some extent as there are methods like affiliate marketing which can make you more money from your blog but provided the least amount of efforts required to create an Adsense account and to install the Adsense code on your blog I feel that even the low Adsense earnings are completely worth it. And, combined with tips given below one can easily increase its earnings from two to three with same amount of traffic. So without further adieu let’s start the list.

Use Adsense Section Targeting

We all know that relevant ads perform well than non relevant ads.  It is normal for a blog to contain lot of irrelevant keywords. For e.g. – if you are writing a post on keyword research and take an example of pet industry in the post.  You’d never want Google to show ads related to dog training on your blog based on that example. Adsense Section targeting solves this problem for you. With Section targeting you can tell Adsense the important sections of your blog based on which Google should show the advertisements.

Use Placement Targeting

The other most effective way to increase your Adsense earnings is to enable placement targeting in your account. With help of placement targeting you can select a sub-set of ad units on your blog to display Google Ads. This information is shown to advertisers who want to show their ad on specific places for the website like top leader board or in a box in right column of the blog.

Use Adsense Category Filter

Remove the irrelevant and low paying ad categories using Adsense Category filter in your account. Take a look at the following screenshot to get the idea. Based on the information given in your account you can easily filter the least performing ad categories.

Use Competitive Ad Filter

Competitive Ad Filter was introduced by Google so that publishers can block ads of certain websites usually their competitors to appear on their websites. But, you can also use this features to block the low paying ads.  Most of the times, sites having poor quality or sites which are made only for Adsense use low paying ads at Google Adsense to get cheap traffic to their sites.  To get rid of low paying ads you have to block the ads of these sites. To do this, create an account on AdsBlacklist.com. Put in your domain name and keywords and AdsBlackList will show you the list of 200 MFA sites which you can copy and then block with help of Competitive Ad Filter.

Adsense for RSS

If you have a decent number of blog subscribers you should try Adsense ads for RSS. Like other Adsense ads, feed ads will be paid either by CPC or CPM.  Feed ads are contextually targeted according to the content of your feed and you can control the positioning of ad using ad placement.

Testing with Ad format and style

Keep testing with different ad formats to find out what works better for your blog. Every site is different so you need to find out what works best for you. Keep on changing size of ad blocks, their positions, ad type (text, image), color and font size and analyze the results. Stick to the style which performs better than others.
So these are the six things you can easily do to increase your Adsense earnings instantly. Do you have any more tips to increase Adsense earnings? Feel free to share them with us in comments below.

18 Adsense Optimized Wordpress Themes to Maximize your Contextual Ad Earnings

http://www.doshdosh.com/16-adsense-optimized-wordpress-themes-to-maximize-your-contextual-ad-earnings/

When I first started Dosh Dosh, I decided to use an Adsense Wordpress template that was designed with the primary goal of maximizing ad earnings. I wanted a Wordpress theme with distinct ad blocks so I can easily blend contextual or other types of affiliate ads alongside my main content.

As you probably know, effective ad placement is critical if you plan to make any significant amounts of money through Google Adsense or other contextual ad systems.

Using a blog template with distinct ad blocks and optimized ad placements will very likely help you increase your Click through rates and affiliate conversions. These customized blog designs are also known as Adsense Ready themes.

How are Adsense Ready Themes different from other blog templates?

A key element that is central to all Adsense Ready themes is their focus on integrating contextual ads around content. As you will notice, the ads and link units are carefully placed above, beside and below each individual post to maximize exposure and their click through potential.

Several themes will also allow you to easily place blocks of square ads within each post, which is one of the proven ways to receive the highest amount of ad clicks from the average blog visitor.

Here are some general characteristics of most Adsense Optimized themes:

  • Built in Adsense blocks for easy ad insertion.

  • Ads are active once the Adsense Publisher ID is inserted or changed

  • Optimized Ad placement, colors and types according to Google’s guidelines

  • Adsense linkunits and search are already included.

  • Search Engine Friendly. Post and category titles are used for page titles etc.

Why should I use Adsense Ready Templates?

The main reason why you should use an Adsense ready theme is convenience. You don’t have to sift through too much code and there’s no need to make major adjustments to the template’s form.

In many instances, all you need is to insert your Adsense publisher ID and you’re done. This will probably only take a few minutes, which can be a huge time and effort saver.

You can probably hack any other Wordpress template to include ads but they can be a hassle if you are unfamiliar with how to optimize your ad placement. Most of these templates are not terribly attractive but I think they are functional and their ad placement is pretty decent.

I think Adsense Ready templates are very useful when you own dozens or hundreds of niche websites which use credited feeds or free content. Niche websites with high paying keywords will be naturally more profitable when you use templates with optimized ad placements.

Dosh Dosh’s List of 18 Adsense Optimized Wordpress Themes

As far as I know, this collection of Adsense Ready themes is the largest online. I’ve included a link to each theme’s home page and as well as a direct download link for your convenience.

Some of the screen shots were taken from the websites referenced and others were screen grabs of blogs running the specific theme. If you know of any other Adsense themes I’ve missed, leave a comment and I’ll add it to the list.

All of the themes should be compatible with Wordpress 2.0+. Feel free to check the theme’s homepage for more information on compatibility and installation.

Recommendations:

All of the themes are pretty similar in function, but I’ve had particularly high click-through rates and ad earnings with several of them and so I’ll like to highly recommend ProSense (#1) and BlueSense (#2).

This post will be updated often and I suggest that you subscribe to my blog feed in order to receive free notifications when new themes are added.

Tips to Double your adsense income

If you rely on Google AdSense to make money with ads displayed on your website, you're probably frustrated with your lower payments lately.

When Google first offered to share their advertising revenue with us in the Spring of 2003, it was pretty easy to bank some nice cash when our visitors clicked on those tiny classified ads displayed on our site...

... But these days, those Google AdSense revenue payments are getting smaller and thinner... even as our traffic grows. Most say it's impossible to make money with AdSense. I felt the same way until a few months ago. Today, I know there's money to be made with AdSense ads... if you know the secrets which I'm about to share with you.

This short AdSense tutorial is going to reveal my best-kept AdSense secrets to DRAMATICALLY boost your Google AdSense earnings. I stumbled upon these secrets by reverse engineering some of the websites that brag about making over $100,000.00 a year.

Tweak your title for higher AdSense revenues
Tweaking the title on your webpage is often the difference between banking a few pennies per click on your AdSense ads to generating over a dollar per click.

Compare these similar phrases:

- DIY home surveillance
- do it yourself home security

Both keyword phrases seem identical... and they are in meaning. But the difference is advertisers are willing to pay 169 times more for webpages themed for "do it yourself home security" (average of $8.47 per click) compared to "DIY home surveillance" (5 cents a click).

Hit the Google AdSense "sweet spot"
My never-ending testing reveals there's a direct correlation between the placement of the AdSense ads and the resulting click through.

When ads are placed in "content zones" (rather than in "advertising zones), you typically generate more Google AdSense revenue. Where is the content zone? It's located just above your content. Most visitors are blind to ads placed in the traditional spots... but those same ads placed above the beginning of our content usually get clicked more often.

Introducing the perfect AdSense templates
While there are currently 12 AdSense templates to display, I find the 336 x 280 (large rectangle) ads convert better than any other format. And don't fret about optimizing for smart phones and mobile devices... my testing shows they hardly ever click on AdSense ads.

Make your AdSense ads blend in with your content
Let's face it, our website visitors HATE ads. Most use ad blockers and their 6th sense to avoid ads. That's why you want to have your AdSense blocks blend in with the overall appearance of your webpage. Have the background of your ads match the background of your webpage. And don't add borders... this tips off your webpage visitors that you're displaying ads.

Triple your AdSense revenues with this one addition
AdSense for Search is MUCH more profitable than AdSense for Content. It's true. In addition to placing standard AdSense template ads, I place a Google AdSense search box at the bottom of my content... and each click averages 317% higher eCPM (effective cost per thousand impressions) than displayed ads.

Dumb down your webpage
A new and very interesting study reveals the way a person arrives from a search engine like Google. It helps us understand how they click on your ads. Specifically, people who search by clicking the button on Google's homepage are 50% more likely to go on to click ads on your page than people who search by any other Google means, according to online ad network Chitika.

Confused? I understand. Let me explain... if Joe Blow searches Google for "hard drive recovery" and completes his search clicking the (Search) submit button, Joe Blow (on average) is 50% more likely to click on your AdSense ads than if he were to search using the [Enter] key.

Why the big difference? One can only guess that sophisticated web surfers are searching without the additional effort of clicking Google's [Search] submit button (while less-sophisticated searchers are clicking the search button -- and clicking on our Google AdSense ads.

Bottom line: It appears advertising click rates are inversely proportional to the "tech-savviness" of the people receiving the ads. So tweak your webpage theme to target beginners, not sophisticated users.

Eliminate unprofitable advertisers in a click
How'd you like to delete the worst advertisers (displayed on your webpages) in just a few fast and easy mouse clicks? Google now offers a best-kept secret way to ban advertisers who don't write profitable ads. It's called "Category Filters" and you find it by logging into your AdSense account and going here:

AdSense Setup --> Ad Review Center

As you see, Google shows you "Filtered Categories" and up-to-date results.

Google AdSense allows us to eliminate categories if they're unprofitable. For example, 8.9% of my ads display "Get Rich Quick" advertisers... nothing wrong with that, but my "% Recent Earnings" is 0.0%. That means I'm displaying ads that are paying me nothing. So I checked it off, clicked the [Submit] button... and now those unprofitable ads are no longer displayed.

How to increase google adsense CTR in few seconds

CTR stands for Click Through Rate that means how much your website ads are being clicked. So, here, I am going to explain a funny story to increase your google adsense ctr to maximize your website's earning. Actually, earning depends upon ctr because

High Traffic=High CTR=$$$$$

The basic goal that you have to instal in your head is that YOU HAVE TO MAKE YOUR ADS LOOK LESS LIKE ADS.

As you know old and ugly 468x60 ads are still present from the history of internet when internet started. Now, even a newbie, can easily understand that it is an advertisement ad and he will probably click on this sort of any ad

Don't try this ad, this gives lowest CTR and will decrease your adsense earning

Remember : Get more visitors to notice your ads by placing them in the right place and making them look less like traditional banner advertising and hence get more clicks.

Step 1:-Using the best Ad Format

I have experimented with Ad formats with lot of  websites and what usually works best for me are the 336 x 280 large rectangular blocks and the 300 x 250 smaller rectangular blocks. These two Ad formats have got me the best click through rates (CTR). The worst Ad format you could choose is the 468 x 60 or the 728 x 90, which look just like banners, and as mentioned above, causes "banner phobia" and get the least click through rates. You should also stay well clear of the tall vertical units such as the 120 x 240, 160 x 600 and the 120 x 600 because the only places that these would fit would be the left or right hand sides of the webpage. This positioning will give them a very low CTR.

Remember : Use 336 x 280 units or 300 x 250 if your really stuck for space.

Step 2:-Using the best colors for your Ad Units

As a general rule of thumb, always make your Ad Unit background and border colour the same as your website background colour. Why? I hear you ask. Well the reason for this is that the ad unit can easily blend with your website and content and does not set off any alarm bells or "banner phobia". This may result in your visitors actually taking the time to look at your advertisements and perhaps click.

Always go with the default blue link colour for your ad unit or slightly darker blue or even dark green. Try to always make the advertiser url as invisible as possible by making this a light grey. One last tweak, if you have any links in your main content portion of your webpage, change the colour of these to something other than your adsense link colour. However, keep your navigation the same colour as your Adsense links to make your adsense links look like they are part of your navigation.

Remember : The border and background colours of your Ad Unit must match your website background colour and the link should be the standard blue with the advertisers url a light grey. All other links in the content of your webpage should not be the same colour as your Adsense links.

Step 3:-Positioning the Ad Units

Just like the property business, its all about location, location, location. Its sad to see that most new Adsense publishers these days tend to put their Ad units on the left and right hand sides of the webpage. This will drastically reduce your CTR. The objective is to get position these Adsense units as close to the top and middle of your webpage as possible.

Visitors are conditioned to look for content in the middle of the webpage and will always overlook the sides because surfers who have come to your website in search of an answer want only the answer which will be in the middle or the content portion of your website and will often always overlook the sides.

What works best for me is a large rectangular block just BELOW the Title and just above the content text. This is powerful at maximising your CTR because the visitor reads your title, is interested and what is the next thing they see? Advertisements.

The next best position to place an Ad Unit is right AFTER the main content. Combine these two and you have a webpage that is geared to have a high CTR because visitors who want products or services NOW will click the ads below the title and visitors who have been educated by your article and are interested in products or services related to your article will click the Ad units at the bottom of your webpage.

If your feeling a bit more adventurous and also if you have a long article, why not place an ad unit INSIDE your content, that's right place it about halfway through your article and make your text wrap around it. These Ad Units will gain the interest of visitors who were initially interested in the article and are now bored. So this is their ‘out' and you stand to make some money when they click away.

Last but not least, you've got Google Adsense Ad Link Units that are Google Adsense Ads that are grouped into links. Choose an appropriate size for your Ad Links Units and place them ABOVE your website navigation. This makes these Ad Link units look just like your navigation. So imagine the scenario when your visitors have finished reading your content and haven't already clicked away on one of your rectangular blocks that you have carefully positioned, they now look for more information so they look at your navigation, Lo and behold, they click.

Remember : Position a large rectangular block below the title, one at the bottom and one in the center if your content is long enough. Place Adlinks block on top of your navigation so that it looks like part of the navigation of your website.

Google Adsense is not approving your account

In these days, google is hardly accepting accounts for adsense specially from red flaged areas like Pakistan. Reason behind this is that most of the bloggers makes a free blog and then make their blg popular by just copy paste data and do some click fraud.

I got the idea to write this article after my friend’s application got rejected by Adsense team and they replied him back giving some guidelines to try his luck in the future.

Your application for Google Adsense will not be approved if your website or blog do not satisfy any of the following guidelines :

  • First of all your website must be your own top level domain like www.example.com and not the sub domain like www.example.com/blog.

  • Your website must contain only substantial and original content.

  • You must provide accurate personal information with your application that matches the information on your domain registration.

  • Your website must comply with Google Adsense program policies which are given here : https://www.google.com/adsense/policie

So if your website/blog satisfies these guidelines then don’t forget and move ahead to apply for an Adsense account. However, remember that these guidlines are not provided by but Google Adsense Policies Gave me

How to Optimise AdSense For the Best Click Through Rate

Currently you are running your website or your blog along with Google adsense. A problem, may be a bad luck, is that your ads are not high ctr that may lead to achieve low income. Below, I will explain how to optimize your Google ads to get maximum ctr to increase adsense income. Actually, these are not my own words but google will tell us how to optimize our ads.

  1. Match your google ad background with the background of your website page.

  2. Text color should also match with text color of your website page.

  3. Most important, titles of your ads should match with links color of your web page.

  4. it's better not to use a border on the ad, but if you do, then choose a color to match your site colors.

  5. The larger ads work best and there are optimum sizes you can select

This is indicating quite clearly that the general idea is to make your Google AdSense ads blend into the style and colour of your site for best results. This sort of suggests that there is a natural aversion to clicking on something that is clearly an advert. So by making the advert blend into the site so that it appears as just another familiar source of information contained within the site content you are more likely to gain a click through to the ad itself. This is after all the whole point of the exercise from the publisher's perspective.

With respect to the positioning of the advert:

  1. the ads need to be above the fold

  2. the best position to place your primary ad is just above your page content, after which

  3. the top left hand corner or under the nav bar (horizontal nav bar)

  4. then just after your content above the footer bar

  5. you can also place ads in your content, generally on the LH side works best

These are your placement options, but this does not mean that you should try and use all of them. There are rules anyway that prevent you placing too many adds.

There are different types of ads which you can use in combination and sometimes combining the different types of AdSense ads can give you maximum exposure. But you do need to think about what will turn your visitors off; sometimes less is more.

Stop and think about your visitor, why they are visiting your site and where they might focus their attention. Then try and make the ads compliment your site and add to the visitors experience, rather than get in the way and clutter up the page.

The best way in the end of finding out what works best, is to experiment with your ads in terms of colors, sizes and position to find out what really suits your visitors. Also don't be afraid to change if you find after time that the click through rate drops off again, what might be good one period can change in the next.

This really maximizes your earnings potential!

This 3 column layout comes with an optional square ad placement on top of the sidebars. It comes with some very useful Wordpress plugins. The best thing about his website is ad link unit on top of the theme that looks like a menu bar that gives best CTR. Well this gives highest earning.

Prosense is the best adsense ready seo friendly theme for wordpress. You can download it for free. If you have any question then feel free to comment here.

prosense-theme-homepage.jpg

A Guide to the Prosense Theme Features

Prosense was created with the aim of including several features which we knew most bloggers would find useful. One of these is the freedom to choose which type of ad units should be automatically displayed.

While designed to effortlessly incorporate a large amount of Adsense ads, ProSense allows you to have complete control over the amount of ads displayed and therefore is even suitable for bloggers who are not seeking to heavily monetize their blogs.

Here are some of the theme features, some of which are currently exclusive to ProSense:

  • Separate and Distinct Ad Blocks. The use of distinct theme files for ad codes allows for easy editing and insertion of Adsense units. These ad blocks can also be used to insert other types of advertisements as well and are not solely limited to Adsense use.

  • Multiple Ad Display Options. Unlike other Adsense Ready themes, ProSense allows you to choose between either banner or rectangle ads for the single post page, thus allowing you more flexibility when it comes to ad blending.

  • Hassle-free convenience and ease of use. You’ll only have to insert your Adsense publisher ID in the default ad units and you’re done. It should only take a minute or two to set up ProSense perfectly.

  • Integrated Ad placement on the homepage. Unlike most Adsense ready themes currently available, ProSense blends a 468 x 60 banner unit between the second and third post on the blog homepage.

This enables you to display relevant ads to search visitors who arrive at your homepage, as they are more likely to scroll and scan through your posts. The inclusion of a well-blended horizontal link unit near the top of the homepage also attracts navigational-style visitor clicks.

  • Highly Optimized Ad units on post pages. There are two types of ad blocks on both the top and bottom of the single post page. You can choose between using a 468 x 60 banner and 300 x 250 rectangle at the top of the post or a 468 x 60 banner and 336 x 280 large rectangle at the bottom of the post.

The ability to designate and match different ad units is exclusive to ProSense and is currently not available for other Adsense Ready themes.

Common Mistakes that Violate Google Adsense TOS

Google Adsense publishers often commit common mistakes that could ban their Adsense account. Google Adsense is a popular web advertising program which provides a good income source for many websites. There are well defined terms of service to strictly adhere to when participating in the program.

On my visit through sites and forums, I daily notice several instances of misuse of Adsense ads. So here a few helpful Google Adsense tips, probably many you already know, and few you might gain by knowing now. These adsense faq are all picked from the Program Policies, Terms and Conditions and FAQ itself and presented in a simplified manner.

1. Never click your own adsense ads or get them clicked for whatever reason. You know this one very well. This is a surefire way to close you Adsense account. Never tell your office associates or friends to click on them. Keep a check if your family or children are busy increasing your income by clicking your ads and indirectly trying to stop your income. Dont even think of offering incentives for clicks, using automated clicking tools, or other deceptive software. Adsense is very smart to detect fraudulent clicks. Check the ads which appear on your pages by the Google Preview tool if required.

2. Never change the Adsense code. There are enough means of adsense optimization & customizations available to change the colour, background or border to suit your needs. Do whatever you want to do outside the code, never fiddle within the ad or the search code. They know it when you do. The search code has more limitations to colour and placement, but you should adhere to the rules. The code may stop working and violates the TOS.

3. Do not place more than 3 ad units and 3 ad links or 2 adsense search boxes on any web page. Anyway, ads will not appear in those units even if you place more ad units. But this is the limit they set, so it is better to stick to it.

4. Do not confuse with adjacent images – It was a common policy to increase CTR by placing same number of images as the number of text ads, which falsely gave the impression that the text ads represented an explanation to these images. Inserting a small space or a line between the images and ads is not allowed. Make sure that the ads and images are not arranged in a way that could easily mislead or confuse your visitors.

5. Do not disclose confidential information about your account like the CTR, CPM and income derived via individual ad units or any other confidential information they may reveal to you. However, you may reveal the total money you make as per recent updates to the TOS.

6. Label headings as “sponsored links” or “advertisements” only. Other labels are not allowed. I have seen many sites label ads with other titles. Don't make your site a target in a few seconds gaze.

7. Never launch a New Page for clicked ads by default. Adsense ads should open on the same page. You may be using a base target tag to open all links in a new window or frame by default. Correct it now as they do not want new pages opening from clicked ads.

8. One Account suffices for Multiple websites. You do not need to create 5 accounts for 5 different websites. One account will do. If you live in the fear that if one account is closed down for violation of TOS, believe me they will close all accounts when they find out. You can keep track of clicks by using channels with real time statistics. They will automatically detect the new site and display relevant ads.

9. Place ads only on Content Pages. Advertisers pay only for content based ads. Content drives relevant ads. Although you might manage some clicks from error, login, registration, “thank you” or welcome pages, parking pages or pop ups, it will get you out of the program.

10. Do not mask ad elements. Alteration of colours and border is a facility to blend or contrast ads as per your site requirements. I have seen many sites where the url part is of the same colour as the background. While blending the ad with your site is a good idea, hiding relevant components of the ads is not allowed. Also do not block the visibility of ads by overlapping images, pop ups, tables etc.

11. Do not send your ads by email. Html formatted emails look good and allow placement of these javascript ads. But it is not allowed as per TOS. You do not want impressions registering on their logs from any email even once. They are watching!

12. Keep track of your content. So Adsense is not allowed on several non content pages. But it is also not allowed on several content pages too. Do not add it on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results. Also exclude any pornographic, hate-related, violent, or illegal content.

13. Do not alter the results after ad clicks or searches
– Ensure you are not in any way altering the site which the user reaches to after clicking the ads. Do not frame, minimize, remove, redirect or otherwise inhibit the full and complete display of any Advertiser Page or Search Results Page after the user clicks on any Ad or Search results.

14. Avoid excessive advertising and keyword stuffing – Although the definition of ‘excessive’ is a gray area and is subject to discretion, yet Google adsense with correct placement, focused content and high traffic will get you much more income than other programs, so excessive advertising is not required. Keyword stuffing does target better focused ads, but overdoing it is not required.

15. Ensure you Language is Supported – Adsense supports “Chinese (simplified), Japanese, Danish, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, English, Polish, Finnish, Portuguese, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Swedish, Italian and Turkish”. In addition, AdSense for search is available in Czech, Slovak, and Traditional Chinese. If your web pages language is not supported, do not use the code on such pages.

Check adsense allowed languages

16. Do not specify Google ads as your alternate ads. – Several services like Chitika eminimalls allow you to place alternate urls, when a targeted paying ad cannot be displayed. This involved creating an simple html page and putting the ad to be displayed instead. Even Adsense allows an alternate url feature instead of displaying public service ads. But never use Adsense ads as alternate urls.
